What to Do Right After Your Pug Puppy Arrives
🏥 First Vet Visit
We recommend taking your new pug puppy to your veterinarian for a general check-up within 3–10 days of arriving home. This short window gives your puppy time to adjust while ensuring early health concerns are identified promptly.
➡️ Why this matters:
A vet visit helps establish a baseline for your pug’s health.
If there are any issues, you can begin treatment early.
This also fulfills the health guarantee requirement for Wigglebean Acres puppies.
If your puppy seems overly tired, is refusing to eat, or just "doesn’t seem right," please don’t wait—go to the vet immediately. Pugs are sensitive little souls, and early care makes a huge difference.
🕒 Your Pug Puppy’s Daily Routine
Your pug has been raised with a consistent routine to help them feel secure and thrive. Here’s a sample schedule to help you transition smoothly:
🐶 Sample Day in the Life (8–12 Weeks Old)
7:00 AM: Wake up, breakfast, fresh water, clean bedding/playpen.
7:30–9:30 AM: Potty time, supervised playtime in a safe space.
9:30–12:00 PM: Nap time (pug puppies love to snuggle!).
12:00 PM: Lunch, potty, and refresh water.
12:30–2:30 PM: More playtime, cuddles, social interaction.
2:30–5:30 PM: Afternoon nap (they’re still babies!).
5:30 PM: Dinner—last meal of the day, fresh water.
6:00–8:00 PM: Final play session and snuggle time.
9:00–10:00 PM: Bedtime! Lights out with a night light left on.
2:00 AM (Optional): Pee pad check, quick cleanup if needed.
🧸 Tips: Your puppy may miss their littermates. We recommend a snuggly stuffed animal or a warm rice bag to help them feel comforted during naps and bedtime.
🎾 Playtime & Training Tips
Pug puppies are playful and affectionate, but supervision is key.
Avoid rough games like tug-of-war or wrestling. These can lead to unwanted behaviors.
Instead, encourage gentle games like fetch or basic obedience training (they learn quickly!).
Don’t wake your puppy just to play—sleep is essential for their development.
👶 Reminder: Always supervise young children with your puppy. Pugs can get stepped on easily, and repeated rough handling may cause them to become shy or defensive.
🍼 Feeding Your Pug Puppy
At 8–12 weeks, your pug should eat 3 meals a day (morning, noon, and evening).
Puppies raised at Wigglebean Acres are used to free-feeding from a shared bowl—feel free to offer food in a bowl until your puppy walks away.
Provide fresh water at all times.
💡 Recommended Food:
We feed our pugs Royal Canin Mini Starter or Medium Starter. Stick to the same food for at least the first month to avoid tummy upset from diet changes during the transition.
🧑⚕️ Ask your vet when to transition to two meals a day as your pug grows.
✂️ Spay & Neuter Policy
We require that all Wigglebean Acres puppies be spayed or neutered by 12 months of age, with proof sent to us by 13 months.
We do not perform early spay/neuter ourselves because we believe pugs benefit developmentally from those natural hormones during growth. If you’re interested in future breeding, please contact us to discuss full registration options.
🏡 If You Can No Longer Keep Your Pug
We understand that life happens. If for any reason you can no longer care for your Wigglebean pug, please reach out to us.
We will always accept a return or help you re-home your pug to a loving family. We’re here for your pug—for life.
💛 Health Guarantee
All Wigglebean Acres puppies come with a one-year health guarantee against life-threatening congenital defects.
Here's how it works:
Visit your vet within 4–10 days of receiving your puppy.
If your vet identifies a life-threatening issue, contact us immediately and return the puppy for a full refund (at buyer’s expense).
If a congenital condition arises within the first year that necessitates euthanasia, we will replace the puppy with one of equal value as soon as available.
📸 Important: We require photo updates every 6 months to keep the guarantee valid.
🚫 Puppy Visits Policy
Due to the ongoing risk of Parvo and other infectious diseases, we do not allow visits unless you’re actively selecting or picking up your puppy.
🦠 Visitors can unknowingly bring harmful viruses from pet stores, dog parks, or other breeders. As heartbreaking as it is, we must protect our puppies—and yours.
We’re happy to send photos and videos of your puppy’s environment so you can feel confident and connected from a distance.
🧬 Temperament & Socialization
Wigglebean pugs are:
Sweet, gentle, and affectionate
Great with children and other pets
Easygoing and friendly with new people
Loyal shadows—they’ll follow you from room to room!
We raise them in our home, around people of all ages, so they are already well-socialized when they go to yours.
👦👧 Male or Female—Which is Better?
For family pets, both males and females make wonderful companions. Spaying/neutering eliminates most behavioral differences. Here’s a quick comparison:

Ultimately, temperament is more about the individual dog and your training than gender.
💉 Vaccinations & Safety
Your puppy has received all age-appropriate vaccinations and dewormings.
We’ll provide a health record to share with your vet.
Avoid pet stores, dog parks, and unknown dogs until the vaccine series is complete (around 16 weeks).
🧬 Why We Health Test
We screen our pugs for genetic conditions to:
Improve the breed’s overall health
Provide families with the healthiest puppies possible
Ensure our breeding dogs are sound, strong, and ready to produce happy, healthy companions
📜 AKC Registration: Limited vs. Full
Limited AKC Registration: Your pug is a purebred and can compete in most AKC events (except conformation). Breeding is not permitted.
Full AKC Registration: Breeding rights are included. Only available by prior agreement.
Most of our pugs are sold as pets with limited AKC registration to ensure they go to loving homes—not breeding operations.
Does the puppy travel in the plane’s Cargo?
No, A Puppy Chaperone brings your puppy to an airport near you. A Puppy Chaperone is a human companion who accompanies your puppy in the cabin of the plane. The Puppy Chaperone will personally greet you at the airport to deliver your healthy puppy directly to you or bring your puppy directly to your office address or home address..
Do you guarantee the health of your puppy prior to purchase?
Every puppy receives a nose-to-tail health check 6 to 12 hours before coming home. This is to ensure you are getting a healthy puppy with current vet records
How Does the shipping process work? Is it Safe?
Once we ship out, we communicate tracking number and precise arrival time. This means that you’ll have to come to the airport to pick up the puppy. When coming, you’ll have to bring your ID as well as the tracking number because you’ll have to be identified before the puppy can be handed over to you. This is to ensure that your puppy is only handed to the rightful beneficiary(that’s you). Once you receive the puppy, you’ll have to sign to acknowledge that you’ve received it and that’s the end of the process.
Yes 100%. We ship only with Airlines that offer the PET SAFE PROGRAM which is an award-winning program in which pets are being transported in a Climate Controlled Environment with a puppy nanny to guarantee them safety/comfort right up to the time of delivery.
